I hope to God that the Prowl shown at Toy Fair wasn't the final design. Prime's right-hand-man was always one of my favorite G1 TF characters, and he deserves better than what's currently being displayed at the Hasbro booth in New York. He looks okay, but Prowl's Binaltech/Alternators version simply should be executed on a level better than "okay". In fact, the more I look at his design, the more half-@$$ed it looks. Maybe I won't pick him up after all . . . .
If the rumors that Hasbro has indeed taken the helm of the Binaltech/Alternators project, we very well could be screwed.

What? Hasbro taking a great toy concept and running it straight into the ground? How unlike them...

How can the Alternators be coming out faster then the binaltech? Has wincharger come out yet in either line? And has anyone heard about a Decepticharge figure?

Windcharger has been out for several months. I saw him just today at Target & Wal-Mart. Alternators are coming out much faster these days. I heard Hasbro took over the line from Takara because it's doing better over here than it is in Japan.

Maybe they should try selling the cheaper plastic in Japan too?

We'll just speaking for myself, but I wouldn't pay anymore for those toys than I did $12 - $20 each. I liked them but the $60 price tag for some diecast parts wasn't worth it to me. Sure, I know the Japanese paid less than we do for binaltech, but still it's a hefty price for a smallish toy IMO.

Yeah, I was under the impression that it mostly the outside skin portions of the car that were diecast and most of the rest was plastic in those toys. I didn't think the whole binal-tech versions were metal; of course, I could be wrong. I've never seen any of them first hand.

I bought the first one (Smokescreen) when it came out. It wasn't just the skin that was metal, but a majority of the robot bits as well. Very few pieces of that one were plastic, actually. I don't know if the quality curve has gone down since then.

I decided to go with Alternators instead of Binaltech simply because I fear the die cast paint scraping.

I think I am going to have to break down and get a Binaltech. I can't seem to find a Tracks anywhere or even at a descent price.

I've read on a couple of websites that for some figures, the plastic versions are actually better than the die cast ones for 2 reasons, paint scraping and balance. For example, the Binaltech Silver Streak has a little difficulty balancing and standing up straight because he is so top heavy with the die cast parts as opposed to the Alternators version. I don't have him so I can't say if its true but that's what I read. Just found one review that I read that in: www.bwtf.com/alternators/silverstreak/

Tonight, I happened to snag the rare Mazda Shockblast, at a TRU of all places. Talk about luck! I can't even find this guy on Ebay most times, or any online retailer.
