I honestly don't beleive that Hasbro would release a TRU exclsuive Grim Skull, then re-vamp it & release it as a regular figure. Plus after information EntertainmentEarth.com told us, I'm stickin' to my guns that the Tomb Wraith this in fact the "Grim Skull v2.0" figure shown at Toy Fair. It has to be...right? -Boglin It does seem odd that they would show that figure, come out with a Skull Jack repaint and never go through with the planned figure. Especially with all the new pieces and what not that would have been with him. Thinking about it now we never saw Omega Guard at Toy Fair....why show Grim Skull and not Omega Guard? Better yet at Toy Fair "Grim Skull" was pictured with all the other Battle Booster figures. Is it just a coincidence that Tomb Wraith happens to be a Battle Booster?

I really hope we do get the 'real' grimm skull figure, these new pieces look very cool on him. I remember reading somewhere they released the value packs quickly, but that we would be seeing the full figures later on. I imagine that by full figures they meant the 'real' Grimm Skull..and maybe a 'real' Omega Guard as well

[glow=aqua,2,300] I'd probably pick up the "real" GS and OG figures when they make them but they aren't really all that exciting for me anymore (although I do like the GS wings and Jack-o-lantern head) as they still look alot like the value packs. They should have just held off a bit longer to make the upgraded kits. I hope they don't rush out kits like this again, because I'll probably pass next time around.

IMO, as long as there is enough pieces/accessories or information with the real GS and OG (or any figure they might release like this) it won't bother me too much. It makes the figures easier to differenciate. An example of stuff I really don't like are straight repaints. those suck I think.

[glow=aqua,2,300]But see I don't even like the idea of them calling these improved kits "the real" Grimm Skull and Omega Gaurd because to me it's an admission that they purposely put out inferior products just to scoop up our moneies. Dang the impulsive completist in me, had I known there were going to be better version available later before I bought them I would have saved my cash.

Somebody jump in here: wasn't it posted that the value packs were only put together at the request of TRU (or the retailers, if they all can order this set) to have an exclusive? And that it had to be all reused parts (as it is with Joe and Transformer exclusives)? So its not about getting the real versions, if they didn;t see Xevoz as something that was going to bring in $$$, they wouldn't have ordered an exclusive with the first wave. What other line has an exclusive in the first year? DoctorKent I never saw anything about TRU requesting an exclusive...originally the whole line was exclusive to TRU anyway so I don't understand why the would want an exclusive inside of an already exclusive line I do however remember all that talk about the kits being thrown together quickly just to get them on the shelves faster...I have a feeling either we'll never see the suped up Grim Skull or he'll be released under a different name.

It does seem odd that they would show that figure, come out with a Skull Jack repaint and never go through with the planned figure. Especially with all the new pieces and what not that would have been with him. Actually....the Grim Skull "Value Zone!" figure was constructed before Toy Fair. Back in Janurary, some Hong Kong dealer on eBay was selling the Grim Skull figure (around the 12th according to the date on my saved files). I thought it was cool as I'd heard no mentioning of it & saved the pictures he had in the auction. Then, a month or so later, the Toy Fair happens & we see this "other" Grim Skull-type Xevoz. I don't think it's a un-made version of the Grim Skull, cause, why have a figure already made up in packaging over in Hong Kong, but show a competley different figure at the toy fair? Thinking about it now we never saw Omega Guard at Toy Fair....why show Grim Skull and not Omega Guard? Better yet at Toy Fair "Grim Skull" was pictured with all the other Battle Booster figures. Is it just a coincidence that Tomb Wraith happens to be a Battle Booster? I don't think it's a coincidence at all duder, I totally believe that the "Toy Fair Grim Skull" xevoz we saw is infact that Tomb Wraith Battle Booster figure. I mean, Hasbo even went so far as to place all 4 of the new Basics that are due out in May-June next to each other at Toy Fair. Why do that if they aren't in the same assortment? -Boglin

DoctorKent flew into the wayback machine and discovered this thread: goldengonzo.proboards29.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1077682302So thats what I had been remembering. There could be any untold number of black skeleton subgroups inside the Skull Jack race, and Tomb Wraith could be one. Boglin makes a good point - all of the stuff mentioned so far on EE, we know what all of them are except for two: Crypt Curse (who is larger price point) and Tomb Wraith. Black skeleton is pictured with the other basics from wave three. The black skeleton pictured with all the other basics could be him. One other thing to remember: neither Grim Skull nor Skull Jack are copyrighted, so there's no need to try and keep the Grim Skull name. DoctorKent I only can follow so many toylines - if anyone out there collects a Hasbro line that had a value pack in the last year with any new parts, post it here.

[glow=aqua,2,300]Heh, I can think of quite a few modern lines that had exclusives in their first year of production. Muppets, World Of Springfield, and Pink panther all pop right to mind. I'm sure there are more but I'm not all that intersted in many lines enough to know when all their exclusives debuted.
As for the whole value pack thing. I'll probably pick and choose on these from here on out if they even decide to make more. I really don't need several versions of a black skeleton or a orangish-yellow Alpha. If they repaint a figure only to release it with new parts later in the regular line them I'm going to skip the version with no new pieces and is marked up as a repaint exclusive.

A while back they released some Star Wars value packs that had a Clone Trooper and another fig. At the time the only place you could get some of the differently colored Clone Troopers was in those Value Packs. As far as Xevoz Value Packs go I don't think we'll ever see any brand new pieces but instead repainted pieces already available. Then again the Value Packs do have the Power Glyphs which are only available in those packs [glow=aqua,2,300] Heh, I can think of quite a few modern lines that had exclusives in their first year of production. [/glow] I didn't mean having an Exclsuive in the first year of the line. Heck I already have The Man WWLA Exclusive from the Pink Panther and the regualr PP figures aren't even out yet I just meant why would TRU want a Xevoz exclusive when at that point the entire Xevoz line was Exclusive to TRU anyway. Typically the reason for a store Exclusive is to bring more people into that particular store for that particular exclusive. TRU was the only one selling Xevoz so people really didn't have much choice but to shop there anyway

[glow=aqua,2,300]Maybe they weren't sure at that time they were going to be the only store to sign on for the line, so they asked for the exclusive. I doubt Hasbro told them when shopping the line that they would be the only major retailer to get the toyline at first.
Honestly, since Target has started stocking wave 1 (albeit a little later on in the game) they really can't say they had the line exclusively. They just had it in their brick and mortars before everyone else, but since they had no product unavailable anywhere else (except possibly the promo/value packs) then they really can't be called exclusive holders of the line IMO.

[glow=aqua,2,300] I doubt Hasbro told them when shopping the line that they would be the only major retailer to get the toyline at first.
[/glow] Actually there has been a huge agreement made in the toy industry that certain retailers will have products a few months in advance to draw in customers before the product becomes wide spread. Basically to combat Walmarts undercutting practices. So I'm willing to bet that TRU knew they would be getting the line before anyone else. ~SS~[/glow] Technically with no other retail stores carrying the line from January until now that made TRU the only (or ecclusive) retailer of the line for 3 months. I think our miscommunication is coming in our personal definitions of the word exclusive.

I'm gonna buy those value packs they put out for this reason: I've seen too many times figures being announced and after a while they would get cancelled or become freaking hard to get exclusives (Can you say Transformers!?). This has taught me a lesson....I want the fig? I have way to get it? I'll snatch it up right away before it's too late. So yeah I want the value packs in fear we might never see the real verison of these figures. If we do see them and they're different enough then thats awesome. If they're the exact same figures then it'll suck a bit, but I'll still be good. Thats how I see it

[glow=aqua,2,300]I can't see how TRU can call Xevoz an exclusive line if Target got the same product (series 1). TRU simply got it early. It would be kind of like saying Target had Star Wars exclusives a couple of years ago when they were getting product 6 weeks to 2 months ahead of Wal-Mart.
Meh to the value pack repaints, if they are going rush out inferior kits and then put out essentially upgraded kits later on with new pieces. That just rings of slimeiness to me. Hasbro should just make a exclusive repaint or wait a bit and release the complete figure as a general release. I don't like the idea of the all new Grimm Skull 2.0 when this should have been the toy we got in the first place.
