As you've seen from other topics, I have completely repainted an extra Razorclaw, Alpha Ranger, and Sledge Trooper into cheetah/jaguar coloring, arctic camo, and silver and black, respectively. I was seriously considering buying a double of the Battle Terrain 2 Pack Shadow Blade vs. Bone Cutter, discarding the duplicate Battle Terrain map, and repainting the figures likewise. I have a red ninja color scheme in mind for Shadow Blade, but I'm not entirely sure about Bone Cutter. It seems a shame not to have an entirely new color scheme, as about all I did with the original was slap on a few stickers and give it a simple blackwash, which looks great on the feet but fairly plain otherwise. I'd like to make it bright green to match the character art, perhaps with a black-and-yellow striped tail; however, as I found out detailing my Inferno Fury, my Testor's acrylic paints don't really adhere that well to the transparent plastic parts. I should be able to figure out something, though... I did use the same paints to paint Armada Optimus Prime's clear smokestacks silver. However, I probably can't repaint rubber parts, such as Shadow Blade's headband and belt...
Once completed, (which should be quite some time, considering how long it took to finish my other repaints and that I now have a steady job) I will have customized doubles of all of the Wave 1 figures except Skull Jack (who already HAS an official repaint anyway) and Inferno Fury (see above; besides, PAINTING it would just make an opaque Hyperfury, which would look wrong).
Any suggestions as to how to repaint Bone Cutter, and/or how to repaint transparent parts? (Unfortunately, I definitely won't be able to repaint his axe.)

now, i haven't worked with paint in awhile, so i'm not exactly the best person to even try to answer you question... but what about primer to take care of that clear plastic. i know you'd lose the clear, but that's the only thing i can think of besides maybe dye. but i don't know anything about dye, so i'm not sure how that works. and for that bone cutter... maybe just do him up in brown? yeah, i could dig him being in dark and light tans maybe.

Dye is what comes to mind as well. I know next to nothing about how to do it, but I've seen it done to TFs and it looked really good. Maybe you could use this technique to color the rubber parts on the ninja.
Also, I'm not sure, but I *think* I've read somewhere a Transfan had colored clear plastic using dye. Not sure at all though...

Thanks... I do remember using primer on the clear smokestacks before painting them. (And I may have made them more grey than silver.) What kind of dye are you talking about, by the way?... Incidentally, I see Hasbro has posted the latest batch of photos I sent them... I don't know why, but MY photos NEVER scan well. The first ones scanned crooked and too light; these were crooked as well, and my Arctic Ranger camo photo was even dropped back to greyscale. I have no idea why everyone else's looks so nice... I think for my next wave of photos, I'll just host the images on my AOL FTP space and send Hasbro the URLs for said images. The URL for the Xevoz's Player's Gallery is sort of hard to find on the site: it's under Game Play -> Customize -> See The Xevoz Gallery, or at www.hasbro.com/xevoz/pl/page.gallery/dn/default.cfm .

i have no idea how the dye works, or what it's called... but you could check one of the TF sites, or the stikfanatics asylum, i know someone dyed the phantom there... mabye one of those places can help with that. sorry, that i'm not that much help though. www.2005boards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=11and maybe: boards.allspark.com/index.php?showforum=6and then you've got:http://forums.delphiforums.com/stikfas/start and by the way, i'm diggin those pictures... nice job on those guys... keep'em coming man

I know some people use 'RIT dye' they get at stores like Wal Mart. Thats all the knowledge I have sadly.

Meh, dye would be fairly limited... If I wanted to make a blue Inferno Fury like the parts I've seen on Xevoz.com, he'd just end up being green and purple. Paints are messy enough...
I have been using the primer on Bone Cutter; it's turned out very well so far. And yes, I've painted the axe; one thing I would like to do, however, is to Dremel (tm) the sides of his smaller hands off so it's easier for him to hold smaller objects, such as his EV-AC; when I repainted my Arctic Ranger, I did cut off the topknot on the pinhead to make sort of a masked head, using scissors and an X-Acto (tm) knife, but these are much larger parts.
And as for Shadow Blade: I did finish painting him Sunday, in a 2-3 hour painting marathon... hard part's waiting for the paint to dry. The predominantly red and black scheme, with gold armor accents - and yes, I even touched up the belt buckle in gold - looks downright outstanding. Except for the mesh on the shoulders, which is very slightly rough looking, the paint scheme is great. My biggest regret is, with my PC laid low by virii, it'll be awhile before I can restore it (by buying Windows XP, backing up what's left to back up (mostly TMBG MP's, minidisk songlists, and of course my resume), and reinstalling the system from scratch), so I'll post photos later, including Bone Cutter, who's getting sort of a hornet type color scheme with primarily shiny black hide (made by mixing black gloss and silver gloss with way too little purple gloss) and yellow and brown accents. (The tail as planned is striped yellow and black.)
I refer to the Shadow Blade repaint as "Crimson Blade," and the repainted Alpha Ranger, obviously, as "Arctic Ranger;" the Sledge Trooper repaint I simply call "Mega Trooper." Any ideas on what to call the Razorclaw repaint? And no, despite the bright flourescent green weapons, I considered and rejected "Raverclaw" outright.

As for repainting Bone Cutter, how about the time honored STEALTH ATTACK BONE CUTTER! For transparent plastic, a Microman buddy called MicroDoc recommends glass paint. I have not tried it, but here is his page about it: www.microer.com/ttgreen.htmFrom transparent to green - might work for what you are looking for. DoctorKent no relation to MicroDoc. Any suggestions as to how to repaint Bone Cutter, and/or how to repaint transparent parts? (Unfortunately, I definitely won't be able to repaint his axe.)

Hmm very interesting DK, I didn't know such paint even existed. Do you know where it's available? And if it's expensive or not?

I finally shot several images of my new figures - along with a third Razorclaw and several just-for-fun configurations of other figures - but AOL's FTP space is currently down. Is anyone able to temporarily host these eight JPG images? (I would've posted this in My Creations, but it appears to be... not having a Reply button.) [Oh, and the cheetah/jaguar looking Razorclaw, I'm "officially" calling "Predaclaw," despite the similarity of the name to the upcoming Preda Crawler.]

Is anyone able to temporarily host these eight JPG images? I recommend www.photobucket.com, that's what I used to host my "Shadowclaw" pics. Very very easy to use and very easy to get along with.

Holy xhit MXC that is a-w-e-s-o-m-e. The 2-pack looks perfect, I have no other way to describe it really. I'd love to see some close up shots of each figure if possible (the bone cutter wings look very nice). Hasbro needs to see this and take a hint. Seriously. The Razorclaw is also VERY nice, but the 2-pack made my jaw drop! Keep up the great work man
