Well, I've finally gotten back into some more Stikfas customizing. Hopefully, I'll get to the final three C.A.T. Squad characters, but I thought this particular figure turned out too nice not to share... I may do a series of these fantasy humanoid animal characters, and have at least three or four [more] planned. Anyway...
The basic "mini-taur" (compared to my Xevoz Thunder Shaman repaint with added parts). I actually went over the pieces with rough sandpaper to add some texture, then painted them flat black and [dry]brushed over with brown and tan. The scars are actual cuts in the figure with an X-Acto knife. In case you're wondering why the upper body is so much higher up from the lower body compared to the Viking kit that this obviously used, I actually broke the peg and had to replace it... the upper body being hollow certainly helped a lot in that regard.
I originally considered leaving the knee joints out to give the figure a more top-heavy appearance, but losing the height and articulation didn't seem like a fair trade-off. What I did do was replace the larger Gamma Male feet with leftover Beta Female feet (modified).
Needless to say, I made use of nearly all of the weapons that came with the Viking kit, as well as modifying the belt and upper body alternate piece to add more armor. The forest green signifies this character's role as protector of earthen magics.
And another basic figure shot, showing the articulation. For this series, I'm adding a ball joint to the lower body and a socket to the tail, instead of the tail being the ball-jointed piece with the C.A.T. Squad figures.
I had a fever to give him some kind of cowbell necklace, but the results were a little less than spectacular... The ring on top of this bell was originally going to be in his nose, but it seemed too clichéd.
And this is the "Green King" in his full armor... I am experimenting with swapping armor pieces with, say, the Omega Male Knight, but I'll have to see what comes of that. I'm especially happy with how the cape turned out, with the sculpted shoulder frills. Maybe more irregular damage to the shield would have helped...
Finally, this is the Green King, protector of Earth, versus the Red Queen, protector of Fire. Soon, I hope to have a Blue Queen (water), White King (air) , and Black Queen (darkness), but I really want to finish the aforementioned C.A.T. Squad characters... Overall, though, this one turned out far better than I had hoped it would.
