[glow=green,2,300]Well if no one wants their cases, I'll take them off your hands... I can always use peice storage. And if it doesn't store both Power Glyphs and peices, I could get 2 cases, 1 for the glyphs, 1 for the peices... so any unwanted cases, pass them my way.[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]Heh, I'll pass them your way for a little cash and shipping. I don't care for the case that much but I'm not totally into toy charity either when you drop $25 a pop on these things.

[glow=green,2,300]Depending on how things go at Otakon, I may take you up on that, say 10 bucks with shipping included? That'd put the price down to about 15 bucks to you, about the price of two larger kits... and if you don't want the caps for the helix, I always need those ^.^ [/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]Sounds good, LMK if you are still interested after Otakon. ~SS~[/glow]

Well, I bet that it won't do too badly, sales wise. $25 isn't a higher ticket item. Energon Omega Supreme or Energon Unicron is $50. That's a big ticket item. 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime was $75. That is also a big ticket item. $25 isn't all that big. I'm not trying to shoot you down. Just saying that in the scheme of things, $25 isn't much.

[glow=red,2,300] Toys are a relative thing. In some collector based lines $25 might not be a big ticket item. In this line it is. It's the item with the largest pricepoint so far. If there was a LOT of value packed into this particular toy then i could see it being a descent sell. Having the case and the figure, I don't think you get much bang for you buck though.
Traditionally playsets and case type things preform poorly. The enthusiastic few gets their early, and then the mass of such things sales wither rather quickly. Recent examples: Castle Greyskull, TMNT Sewer playset, WOS Main Street, and maybe the greatest playset ever: The Muppets The Swedish Kitchen.
Dude, I saw a ton of masterpiece Optimus Primes on clearence for $25 at Target recently. Wal-Mart had to clearence their too. It was a great toy, but they didn't blow off the shelves and it has 25 years of millions of Tranformers' fanboys wet dreams behind it. It also had a ton more of overall play value than a case that almost nobody seems to care about.
I think if the numbers stocked on the case remain relatively low then they'll do okay, but if they stock these deep then they will be in some trouble. Which is also fine by me because I don't want them doing stuff like this much in this line and I might be able to pick up some more Iron Specters for a descent price.

Well, now that I have a pair of these in hand I can voice my unbiased opinion on the whole subject.
But before I do, just FYI, I found these at the Target in Ypsilanti, MI (they did their Christmas reset a week or two early according to the staff).
I have yet to be able to actually assemble the figure, which I will, as soon as humanly possible (later this evening) partly in an attempt to make myself feel better about having bought a $10 (actually less than that) figure for $25. So, I can't comment on the figure yet, but I'm sure that I will enjoy it greatly.
I will say that as much as this is not the most expensive toy around, I feel just a little foolish (and a little "taken") for having bought two of them (this IS certainly my fault for having the obcessive need to buy at least 2 of each of these figures). I definitely wanted two of the figure, but I still stand firm on the fact that it is not really worth the price of admission, no matter how great of a figure it is. For me it's not just about the money, it's about seeing this much material go completely to waste. It was one thing to have 10 (or so) parts from every kit (the battle helix) essentially go to waste, but now we have this huge honking case also going completely to waste. I may feel better about the waste issue if, say, I knew a child that would love to have it (the case alone), but that is just not the case (no pun intended). Of course, even if that were the case (again, no pun intended), I would still have the issue of the money involved.
The case is rather large and heavy considering what all is actually inside (the figure's parts actually come in only 1 bag, with 2 additional baggies holding his weapons and shield, and a fourth holding his inserts and stickers). This is what really hit home for me, walking out of the store and opening one of these to see a relatively small amount of actual useable "goods" enclosed within.
All-in-all though, if you play the game this case is probably more than worth it just for the carrying ability and the helix "rolling" ability.

Out of curiosity, what kind of plastic is used to make the case? Is it cheap plastic or something more regular? Also, does the helix rolling thingy work well?

[glow=red,2,300]The case is made out of sturdy good quality rubbermaid type material. The helix spinners work very nicely and without batteries. It's a nice thing for what it does IMO. I just don't care about it.

Thanks. I'm glad at least that "dreaded" thing works well. I can't say I care about it much either, but I'll be getting one for sure.
