Galactus!Surfer, dude, the Power Cosmic does not alleviate you of the need for sunblock lotion! What did I tell you...?Yup, that's the one defect - a couple of paint chips off the right arm join. Interestingly, that's actually the upper torso piece that comes with Deathlok and not the right arm piece that comes with Dr. Strange. There are some other teeny defects on that upper torso piece too. As posed, he is every bit of 15.5 inches tall - that's to the tops of his helmet thingamajiggies. A very imposing action figure if there ever was one. I didn't find him that hard to pose, nor to assemble. One leg didn't pop into place with the sound I might have liked, but he's doing fine. Stands entirely on his own. Average strength table bumbs do not make him fall over or drop his beloved herald. BTW, he doesn't come with the surfer in a globe - that's from an old Big G action figure. And right, my surfer lost all of his silver paint in that stinking and stupid liquid they suspended him in. And speaking of paint, the blue and purple paints on this guy are so sophisticated that any possible differences from piece to piece in terms of precise color matching don't seem to really matter. The metallic blue is a different color everywhere light hits it because it has that "shark-skin" effect going for it.

Thanks for posting pics of good ol Gacky. When I collected comic books, I collected not specific lines from Marvel, but specific villians. G was one of the first. Still have my FF 48. <sniffle>

Grayfox: It's an old Toy Biz Galactus figure that comes with the Silvr Surfer in a globe filled with sparkly liquid. The Galactus figure is about 8.5 inches tall, while the surfer in the globe is a mere 1 inch or so. The Surfer is weighted on his feet so as to maintain an upright orientation, but it doesn't really work that great. Ever since his silver oxidized into the water I have been looking for a new clear globe to place him in - because if I could find one, I'd break the figure out of the globe I have and then repaint the figure so as to reinstall him into a new globe. I don't much care about maintaining the integrity of the toy as "original" because I will most likely never sell it. Anyway. here are some pics... My understanding is that Galactus is here sculpted as he was depicted for an animated cartoon series. His colors include a rather bright magenta which doesn't seem quite right to me. It's a liitle too "shocking pink" for my taste. The "legends" Galactus is far better in my view because of the color choices and the sophisticated paint job. I actually like the way the little Toy Biz figure looks sculpt-wise, but it's not very poseable. The "legends" figure is slender looking while the Toy Biz figure is stocky. There are all kinds of differences really.

How far we've come... I can hardly even stand to buy figures with less than 10 POAs any more. On that note, the new Batman Begins figures disgust me.

On that note, I've always been a huge DC animated collector but after having gotten used to great posability Xevoz and Marvel Legends I just can't force myself to buy the new Justice League Unlimited figures. 5 points of articulation just doesn't do it for me anymore.

Yeah... I've been making myself feel better about buying those by making them into a modern Super Powers line. If I can't have articulation, I'll take the nostalgia of Super Action Features! Those ginormous Bruce Timm chest cavities are great for housing action feature mechanisms...

The Legends figure came from the Phillipines because I don't really want the whole line-up of figures - just Galactus. I paid like $50-60, but it's just the Galactus I wanted so I think that's okay. There are rumors that to complete Galactus by buying the individual sets one may have to track down a "chase" set and I didn't want that hassle for sure. And as compared to statues or that Heroclix figure - the price I paid for this articulated action figure is a good one really.
The other smaller figure is quite old really - mid 90s maybe? On eBay one sees them for $15-25 periodically. They aren't rare, but not cheap either. They probably sold for $6-9 new.
Action figures are pretty weird to me. I have a bunch of Microman/Micronauts in a collection I have been building since the 70s, but I generally keep them in a box and only occasionally play with them or display them. Otherwise I don't have that many action figures per se. I have 3 Galactus, 1 Silver Surfer, 1 Beta Ray Bill, 1 Hellboy, 1 Vampire Hunter D, 1 Dawn, 1 Angela, 1 Lady Death - and basically I swap them out occasionally and display them somewhere (mostly the desks in my office at home). Strangely enough, one of my main interests with action figures is the sculpting and how they articulate the form (or don't). The Vampire Hunter figure is very like a doll, and less like an action figure. The female figures tend to be more iconic and statue-like.
Basically, I'm just looking for something interesting to play with or look at while I do other stuff - something than can actually be fun for two minutes and then put back in its place.

Those Batman Begins figures do indeed look like hammered $#!t. Toys like that might have made the cut back in the early 90's, but not anymore. (Not for me, anyway.) On that note, I've always been a huge DC animated collector but after having gotten used to great posability Xevoz and Marvel Legends I just can't force myself to buy the new Justice League Unlimited figures. 5 points of articulation just doesn't do it for me anymore. Same here, Squishee. I look at 'em, and I do think about it . . . then I have a second thought: "For this price, I--as well as these characters--deserve so much better than this." There are a few figures slated for release later this year that I do plan to pick up, but not very many at all. Those select few are at least heavy on the articulation . . . . Simply put, Xevoz have pretty much spoiled me.

The old Galactus is indeed from the Silver Surfer animated cartoon that aired on Fox on Saturday mornings about 5 or more years ago. The articulation sucks, but the head sculpt of that figure is dead on.
Trisk, if you're a fan of Silver Surfer I do suggest you watch that show somehow. It's not 100% true to the Surfer's comics, but it did a great job IMO.

Damn, I haven't seen anything newer than series 6 at Wal-mart in 6 months and tonight I saw almost the whole wave of these there. Galactus looks pretty cool, but even he couldn't get me to buy some of the lamoid second teir characters they included in this assortment.
