We've been talking tougue in cheek off and on for the last page or more and no one has had to use one rolling eyes icon to get the point across.

Marvel ledgends are some of the coolest figures ever. I remeber when I got my first, Namor. I thought it was so cool. Now they're up to series 8 and the last figure I got was a Nick fury from series 6. I really want a deadpool and a cable. Just to let you guys know, they are coming out with some cool figures. I saw online that they are making Nightcrawler, Prof. X, War machine, Bullseye, BlackPanther and I think Doc.Ock.

Marvel Legends Series 9 toynewsi.com/index.php?catid=23&itemid=6038I'm no fan of Deathlock, but he looks damn cool. I'll also have to pick up War Machine. He's one of my fave characters. Sadly though, I'm expecting Series 9 to be one of the least popular since the start of the Marvel Legends. Die hard fans and collectors will pick 'em up, but that'll be it I think.

hence the formidable sales motivator: Galactus!

Yeah but like I said, I'm sure only die hard fans and collectors will pick them up. I highly doubt any of the characters or Galactus himself will appeal to new fans or people that don't know the line.

Galactus looks pretty sweet. I never thought that toy biz would go back to making giant heroes, especially the ML line. Is it a chase, or relly expensive? As a kid I never liked Galactus' head, cool body frame though.

One piece of Galactus' body comes with each of the different figures in Series 9. You have to collect the entire wave if you want to assemble a complete Galactus.

I agree that the Galactus figure is nice, but the unfortunate thing about the Galactus concept - apart from the usual ML shortpack/scramble nightmare, of course - is that none of Series 9 will come with bases. These are (IMO, at least) an integral part of the ML line. 47 points of articulation on a figure mean nothing to me if the joints are so loose that the figure can't stand on its own, which I've found to be the case about 90% of the time. The bases at least mean that the figures can be displayed without having something to lean against. And some of the bases (Storm, Modern Iron Man) are quite nice in their own right.

I agree. I really haven't had much use for most of the Legends bases but there are a few out there that make for a nice addition to figure. I'm guessing that they are being permanently sacrificed for the marketing potential of the Galactus or Sentinel gimmick. The Riders line will be something more like to what we're used to but again, its tied to a gimmick. I think its necessary for them to keep interest in the line alive. I mean, how many original characters do they have left? Characters that will attract buyers? Also, consider the level of repeats we're getting, for example Hulks and Iron Men? Maybe its just me but how much life does everyone else think this line has?

[glow=red,2,300]toybiz goes into lots of detail with their bases, but is it really needed? i flip my bases and stick to the figure. i like the new iceman's base. it's a setinel's hand. looks sweet. but i got more excited with the notion of a sentinel than iceman himself.
galactus is cool, but i don;t want to buy figures i don;t want just to get a piece i do want. look at metal gear ray. anybody have a completed figure? give the fans what they want by asking what they want. what about a sentinel figure, toybiz! some of us like robots, and grunts. how sweet would a multi-articulated sentinel be?[/glow]
