Any one seen the new Lego Vikings? I recall seeing pics from toy fair of them. Came upon them at Toys R Us today. They had a nice big display. I haven't purchased many new legos lately, but I gotta say these might be enough to get me back into them for a bit. Kinda reminds me of the old days when Lego was working on different "systems" lines. Back when they weren't focusing so much on Bionicles. Anyway if you haven't seen them, you can check out the official Lego site: www.lego.com/eng/vikings/Default.aspx

I too have seen these. I have already purchased ten of the fenris wolf set, just for the great little pieces that make up the wolf, the pneumatic t-pieces make the best joints for my mid sized mecha mocs ;D . I will be purchasing more, not as much for the set than that of the pieces -| Peace |-

WHAT? No Surtur the Fire Giant? This is cool, in that its viking stuff, much like the pirates, cowboys and knights series. Is this going to come and go by way of the Ninjas line? I want some Thor/Odin/Loki pieces... The use of technic/bionicle pieces for the monsters is interesting, not really a fan of the bionicle, altho I've seen some AMAZING things linked to from this board from guys who didnt spend all their money on Xevoz and bought Bionicle pieces instead. I think Johnny Thunder has the "every other wacky foreign culture" thing down, from Nazi's to Fu Man Chu to polynesian island tribes to dinosaurs to Tibet to egyptian mummies... Who hasn't Johnny THunder battled? The viking pieces are kinda lame, except for the vikings themselves. Boats and Forts/Buildings are perhaps the weakest legos, with the lamest pieces. They need more vehicles as they tend to have the best parts for making stuff, I think the new DinoAttack line is a step in the right direction.
I think a CAPCOM/LEGO team up with a resident evil line would be very cool too!! Lego Zombies!!! Or just freaking get the real Gundam license from Bandai.

i know that capcom has signed up with art asylum to produce mini mates based on street fighter and darkstalkers characters. i don't know if there are any further plans. i think that dante from devil may cry would make a sweet mini mate.

Yes like those mecha, though i do varying sizes, from the smallest of small to the biggest of big. They are fun to build, but they can be a pain in the ass to. You should give it a whirl if you have the parts Oh by the way Mladen is a good friend of mine on lugnet. -| Peace |-

okay.... Say I wanted to try my hand at building a mecha from lego.... Any sets that you'd reccomend I look for? I looked today, and damn they're expensive. Do mega blocks work as well? What kind of prices for the sets are we talking about?
back on topic- Saw the Vikings today in a toys r us display. They look very cool. Just about picked up the small set for $4.99, but decided to pass on it for the momment.

Try making small hard suits first, they are just as cool, and you could make one with mostly pieces from the fenris wolf set. I dont buy sets looking for things to build mecha, they are just spur of the moment ideas that usually turn out good, the hardest thing in mecha building is to visualize an original mech, also making usable ariculation could be a challenge. Here is a link for a very basic mecha that allows for a range of customization: www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=117082 and here www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=117083 You will be happy to see that hte second link are instructions ;D -| Peace |-

I saw the lego display at TRU. I honestly think MegaBloks stuff has a cooler look going for it right now.

I saw the lego display at TRU. I honestly think MegaBloks stuff has a cooler look going for it right now. MegaBloks has xhit pieces. The plastic is too thick and doesn't connect well. The only thing MegaBloks is good for is they have a big variety of pieces. I remember I got some sets for Christmas years ago. There were pieces with pegs on both sides which was good.
