Anyone hit up any of the midnight madness sales at Toys R Us or anything?
I skipped on the midnight madness events...basically because I knew there'd be lots of people there all looking for the same item and I would undoubtedly walk away with none of the figures I wanted.
I went to WalMart this morning for their opening...7am. There was only one other guy there to buy new Star Wars and when we got to the aisle, he went right for the Unleashed figs. The main figure I wanted was the 12" Grievous, and they only had 1 of him. I grabbed him and the other guy was all bummed when he saw I had the only one.
I also picked up the set of 4 Force Battlers, I wanted the new Galactic Heroes and Darth Tater, but the store didn't have either of these in stock.
There was a TON of stuff out though....luckily I decided to pass on 99% of it this time around.

I'll pick up the new galactic heroes for my oldest son and probably a set for my youngest one too. To me, I think they are more fun than the 3 3/4 scaled figures.

If there had been Xevoz-style Star Wars figures to be had, I would have been there for the midnight release, gladly handing myself over to the Dark Side by shoving any and all jokers out of my way and doing whatever it took to procure three full sets of each figure. Since there are no such things, my @$$ was in bed and sound asleep . . . .
By the way, Jeremy, since you now have them in your possession, what's your opinion of those Force Battlers figures? I really like the Urban Vinyl stylings of the toys, but I've wavered in my desire to pick them up. (That having been said, those are the only Star Wars items that I'm sorta interested in at this point.) I guess seeing them in the store will be the determining factor as to whether or not I decide to add them to my shelf . . . .

Well, I had to venture out earlier today, so I took a look at the Star Wars: Force Battlers in person. Vader was the only one that I decided to pick up. Now that I’ve opened the figure and have checked it out, I am glad that I chose the route of moderation. No offense to anyone who might like this line, but I'm not overly impressed now that I have a Force Battler in-hand. On the positive side of matters, the sculpt is very nice if you're into highly stylized renderings. However, the figure is a bit less articulated than you might initially believe by looking at him in the package alone--especially in his legs. (His right leg can't even rotate at the hip.) All in all, FB Vader will be more of a statuette for me than a plaything. Still, it's not a complete loss . . . he'll look pretty cool standing atop one of my computer monitors.

I went this morning. Few people there.
I got:
4-armed General Grievous ARC Clone Fighter Lego Set General Grievous vs Obi-Wan Knobi Lego Set Scout Walker Lego Set
I like the legos more than the figures.

I picked up the GH's for my son today. He loves the yoda vs. sideous set.
I looked at the force battlers and decided to pass as well. I did notice the style was a little like xevoz except more detailed.
I didn't really feel the need to buy any of the regular figures either. I bought almost all them for 8 years and then just lost interest as I realized I wasn't getting a lot of bang for my buck and was buying the toys out of habit instead of actual interest. I'm really thinking about selling them all on ebay and freeing up some more space and getting back a lot of lost cash.
Xevoz has pretty much ruined me on a line like that again. Now if they made come Xevoz compatible star wars toys, I'd be all over that for the Star Wars geek in me and also because I'd be customizing the heck out of those kits for new Xevoz creations.
*Drools at the thought of having Xevoz compatable jedi cloaks, assorted aliens, and an army of different droids at my disposal*

Anyone see those Attactix figurines? That hero clix style game with star wars figs? I don't have a toy store near me, so I have not, but they look pretty cool.

Xevoz has pretty much ruined me on a line like that again. Preach it, brother Squishee. I'm right there with you. In fact, I just don't anticipate trips to the toy aisle quite the same way I once did. *Drools at the thought of having Xevoz compatable jedi cloaks, assorted aliens, and an army of different droids at my disposal* : : : Slides bucket over to Squishee, then returns to his own. : : : Bleighdzes, sorry for the crappy lighting in the picture below. (A painfully obvious "snap 'n' post" job, no?) If I have enough time tomorrow, I'll try to get a couple of better ones for you.

I opned my set of Force Battlers last night. Overall I think they're really cool...I love the stylized look of the sculpt. Vader is my favorite by far (he comes with a shield!...why would a Jedi need a shield!), my only complaint is that they use cloth for his cape. I would've preferred plastic that would've had a dynamic sculpt. Anakin and Obi-Wan are cool too...Griveous is the weakest of the four.
They're actually expanding this line later this year and next year and characters like Chewie, Han, Luke, Jango Fett, etc. will be made in this style.
I also found the 3 sets of Galactic Heroes yesterday on my econd run of the day. Got them all since I have a full run of this line, but must say that I was dissapointed in this set. Not sure why, I was just underwhelemed, but they look cool alongside all my others.
I still haven't opened my 12" Grievous yet...and I couldn't find ANY Darth Taters in my run of like 10 stores yesterday!

I find the whole thing heartbreaking. Star Wars was my thing. I was the biggest Star Wars nerd among my peers. I still have my blue Snaggletooth, most of my 80's figs. I've mentioned my fascination with Zuckuss. However, the new movies were so objectionable to me...The last one literally made me SHAKE with anger as I sat in the theater. I could only sit there and wonder why, for example, would an elite organization of peace-keeping justice types allow the mother of one of their best students to remain a SLAVE for ten years. A slave owned by a creature that appeared to be a greasy Italian stereotype (with a name--'Watto'--that is obviously a cross between 'Wop' and 'Dago'--And wearing the space equivalent of a wife-beater shirt). Of COURSE he's going to turn to the dark side!! And poor Boba Fett, forced to watch, at the tender age of TEN, as his father is trampled by a space-rhino and then cruelly, mercilessly beheaded by a jedi whose rank and esteem makes him akin to the Dalai Lama--naturally, he would become a shady killer--I would too. Though I hope I'd die with more dignity than simply giving gas to a Sarlaac. UGH. I HATE George Lucas!!! I wouldn't be surprised if this last movie is simply footage of him rolling around in piles of money, and then urinating on a twelve inch Boba Fett figure, saying 'You do not understand the power of the dark side'... Anyway, I'm stopping, since I could go on for pages about this stuff. Suffice it to say that I have no more love for SW toys because I have no more love for the License itself. But if there were Jedi XEvoz, You KNOW I'd be there!!!

Dude, that angry first paragraph made me roll with laughter. I almost totally agree with you on the prequels.
The main reasons I think they fail is anakin is totally an unsympathetic central character, there are nagging inconsistencies in the characters and the storylines, and there is little chemistry between the actors.
Anakin should have been played up as a person who though is powerful and flawed yet is also kind and trusting to a fault. He should have been more like luke than a freaky angsty stalker. Instead they went for creepy, angry, selfish, and cruel angle as a padawan. So when he manipulated and finally falls to the darkside in ROTS who is going to care? Most people already dislike him now. The most annoying scene for me in AOTC was when he returned to the Lars' homestead and admits to Padme that he mercilessly slaughtered all the tuskens even the women and children. Padme's character to that point suggests she should be totally horrified and disgusted by this revelation. Instead she just gives little annie huggies like he broke his favorite toy in a tantrum.
It was at that point I knew that there wasn't going to be anything truely impressive in these prequels except a few choice lines, a smattering of descent proformances by a couple of good actors, some nice special effects and some cool ship/character designs. These movies are a shell of what we got in the last trilogy IMO. I'll still see ROTS but I think Lucas should have just left well enough alone and passed on the prequels in retrospect.
