Being avid and experianced collectors like many people on this board are, there are bound to be some common issues and problems that come up that people have come up with various tip/tricks. i.e. Putting a fig in hot water to loosen up joints for a part swap for a custom I thought we can have a little thread here to ask questions about an action figure problem, and hopefully someone out there may have a solution. My case in point: Balancing issues while displaing figures. Nothing annoys me more then when I'm sitting on the computer and Iron Fist takes a swan dive on to the keyboard, or when Thor's ankles give out and he takes out Iron Man, Hawkeye and Wonderman in the process. I bought stands from www.realstands.com, got the ones that they advertise for the Lord Of the Rings figs, and started using them for my ML. So far, they fit well for about 75% of my figs, but for the rest they are either too loose, to big to fit, or the fig doesnt have foot holes to begin with. The stands help a bit, but I still having standing issues. I've heard of using superglue on joints but I'm afraid of getting a joint permenantly stuck in on position. Any Tips??

I got one. Don't buy figures by Hasblow. The quality is bad and they don't hold up very well. Sorry, I'm still mad about the Marvel figures. Only ones I still like are the Super Hero Squad. As far as real tips balance and weight distribution is key for standing figures without stands. Sometimes it depends on who you place next to each other on the shelf. You can put someone sturdy next to someone with weak ankles and just lean them together slightly without making them look too crowded. And get a doll stand for your Galactus BAF, it helps a lot. And put some glue on your stands. My War Machine kept falling down and I lost one of his flames for a couple months from it flying under the bed. Now he stands strong.

Putting a small amount of silly putty in there increases the friction of the joints. Like, so small you think it won't make a difference. I had literally a fourth of an ounce to work with, and it tightened up my Omega Guard like new.

I read somewhere on this forum that puting a small amount of nail polish on a xevoz joint would give it the small bit of increased thickness to handle a loose joint... not sure if it was bad or not, but it sounds like it would do the trick.
That said, the leg joints by the hip of my Sigma6 Duke are freaking loose, and yeah he takes a swan dive of the shelf every time i close one of my drawers too strongly. Any ideas?

For loose ball joints (like xevoz) or regular joints, I always use nail polish (cheapest I can get). Just apply a really thin coat on the ball, let dry for an hour or so and snap the pieces back together. It should do the trick. If the joint is still loose, apply one more thin coat over the first one, wait another hour for it dry, etc.
Another trick I can give is to straighten soft plastic parts like some of the Xevoz weapons or Marvel Legends Wolverine's claws (which are usually pretty warped in packaging). Just dip the soft plastic part in really hot water for a few seconds. Then, when the part is very soft and bendy, take it out and run it under cold water while giving it the shape you want. The cold water will "reset the plastic's memory" and from then on, it'll keep that new shape! It's very effective and doesn't hurt the plastic either.
Also, I doubt anyone has a solution to the problems I have, but here they are:
- Dust! I hate it. I hate dusting my figs. Even in a display case, there's still dust. It takes longer, but eventually it's there. Anyone has any tricks when it comes to dusting? heheh
- Lack of shelf space. I know the only solution would be to part with some stuff in order to make room, but it's a big problem for nonetheless.

One trick I used for straightening bent plastic (my XMC Archangel leg) is to get kabob skewers which you can get in a bag of about 20, cut it down to the length of the part your trying to straighten. I usually double up on the sticks. I then used twist ties, thank you ToyBiz for providing a million, on the top and bottom as tight as you can get it. I kept his leg in a splint for about 3 weeks, came out good as new,

I'm going to try that hot water trick on my pinky streets... those little witches can't stand straight for xhit, they all bend back like they are staring at the ceiling.

The nail polish trick is recommended for Stikfas, so I'd imagine it works for Xevoz and others as well.
Ans Grayfox, I'm with you on your problems. Especially shelf space, that one kills me. I can't stop buying figures, so it makes it rough.

That being said, it is still the best way to improve joints stikfas/xevoz style joints As for hasbro figures, The hot water trick normally works, although i've only used it on 3 figures. - Dust! I hate it. I hate dusting my figs. Even in a display case, there's still dust. It takes longer, but eventually it's there. Anyone has any tricks when it comes to dusting? heheh Regarding dust, well, there are two things I can recommend. If you're a home owner, you likely have a ventilation system running through your house and should be replacing your filters regularly. I used to get the run-of-the-mill filters that were fine, but using the 3M brand filters has made a huge difference. I see less dust in the house and I also blow my nose a lot less around allergy season when I'm in doors. The other thing you can do is get one of those stand alone air filters that draw in the air and help purify the air you breathe. As it draws in air, it takes the dust mites and collects them to it's filter, offering more dust reduction. I know these aren't total solutions to stop from dusting, but what they will do is help you make your dusting trips less frequent.

I'll have to keep that idea in mind. Thanks!

peronally, i coat a ball joint with super glue. helps great. on wolverine figures, i chop off the claws and use bobby pins for claws. for the curse of dust, i have to play with my stuff. i try not to keep so many figures because the bigger the collection, the more i have to maintain it. i have to realize i own them, nnot them me.

Amazing I tried that it works perfect. Now all the loose joints are as good as new!
