UGH!!! I'm having the worst time trying to get non-variant figs. I just got a Chun-Li fig and once again, variant. Can someone confirm if the non-variant Chun-Li has red leggings? or is my screen tint just completely way off.
It seems that even if E-Bayers advertise the non-variant, sure enough the product being sold is a variant. I jus don't know what to do about all this. If anyone knows where or how I can get my hands on one of these figs, I'd appreciate it.

Actually, the regular Chun Li has the same brown legs--you might be looking at that misleading prototype photo that many sites use. The only difference between the two is the color of their tunic. Reguler Chun is a medium blue, whereas the variant is a lighter greenish blue. Of all the variants in the series, this one makes the least difference, in my eyes. But there's also a pink Chun Li, which I've never seen.

Randy, do you think you could post a pic up on here so I can see what this fig looks like? If this prototype is what I'm believing to be the non-variant, and the real non-variant fig is quite different, then I may have bought one too many Chun-Li. D'oh!

I'll also post a pic of what I have and you can help me judge what I've got after I get home today; expect the pic to be posted sometime after the next 4 - 5 hours. With Chun Li, I give up.

This is the PROTOTYPE photo, from SOTA's website. The legs look reddish: Here's a (stolen) photo of regular chun li, as she actually appears: And here's a crappy photo of the variant, but I think you can see the (very subtle) difference in color: There is another Chun Li variant with a pink and white tunic, but I'm sure you'd know that one if you saw it...Hope this helps!

BTW, if, like me, you DID buy one too many (I've got an extra turquoise), you probably only need to sit on it for a couple months before you can resell it and get your money back. I don't think round 1 was produced in such high numbers that the packaged figs will lose value...

DAMN CAPCOM for making an alternate color that was practically 1 RGB value off! LOL! Thanks for posting those pics Randy. I'm going to have to analyze this when I get home. Boy oh boy....

I've been looking for these figures since the thread was started. Not looking really hard mind you, but looking when I go out to shop near a store that might carry them. my score? Ziltch. Close to buy'n one online, but just haven't done it yet. I think I remember seeing some figures very similar to the SOTA ones in articulation, but I don't remember who they were made by. Are they any good, that is if anyone knows what I'm talking about lol ? www.bigbadtoystore.com/toystan.asp?Queryid=af924looks tempting Your Number1 Fan

I believe you're talking about the Jazzwares Street Fighter figs, like this one for example... afigures.com/g/?mode=view&album=Jazwares%2FStreet_Fighter&pic=100_1653.jpg&dispsize=800&start=0They are close, but no where in the same league when it comes to points of articulation. The SOTA figs are just incredible. If you look at that pic of Akuma, you see maybe 2 POA in the legs. With SOTA figs, there are at least 6 POA in each leg, allowing for more poseability. I remember reading on this board somewhere that Jazzwares were a sub of SOTA, so some of the sculpts may have had similar bases as the SOTA figs. If that is the case, then I might pick up an Akuma, gank the head off and put it on a variant Ryu fig I have sitting around. ;D Recommendation: Stick with the SOTAs if you can. You won't regret it!

Or maybe he's thinking of those new High Dream street fighter figs from Japan. They have close to SOTA level articulation, are about an inch taller, and are based on the Capcom vs SNK game series. The sculpts are very different. Pics on ebay, and some retailers sites. They're around 15-20 bucks each.

cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=348&item=5974424379&rd=1I think those are what I was thinking of. At least, if I squint I can see the double jointed elbows, and the swivle in the mid-leg just above the knee. Anyone pick them up yet? or are they out? I finally found some of the SOTA figures today. as luck would have it, i post about not being able to find them, and bam! see Ken, Blanka, and Cammy at gamestop. I picked up the Ken and Blanka. I don't quite like Cammy's hips... just looks weird, and takes away from any "sexy"-ness the figure could have had. Ken is pretty cool. doesn't like to stand really well yet, but I think I might be "over doing" the poses with him. Blanka is good, but the hair is heavy... thus making him look like a bird watcher. Still pretty cool. at 12.99 a piece though, I deffinatly won't be going for complete sets. Is an akuma figure planned? I beat the game with him... or at least thats what I tell people. Marvel vs Capcom, I would use Akuma, Wolverine, Cable, etc. such a sweet game... almost makes me want to find marvel ledgends figures to go with these now. rambling = time to log off. thanks for the heads up on the great toys.
