I bought Vega earlier tonight and just opened it. Damn those are kick ass figures. They really look/are high quality. At least compared to Marvel Legends. My only complaint is, where is the figure stand!?!?

With the growing popularity of super-poseable 6 inch figures, I'm hoping SOMEBODY will manufacture some generic, poseable figure stands--so we can have or Vegas doing flying kicks instead of just standing there licking their claws.
I'm glad you notice the WIDE gulf of quality between Street fighter and Marvel. I'm pretty much through with ML, except for the upcoming Mysterio, and maybe Spidey and Black Panther. Only a very few Japanese companies seem to be able to hang with SOTA...

Thanks for the update about the local retailers. I'm going to check out a few of these stores tomorrow. Sadly, I'm just starting my collection now. I was fortunate to find a Sagat online from a e-tailer, but I'm understanding that M. Bison and Ryu may be difficult to find, of the series 1 assortment.
Right now, I'm trying to obtain the non-variant figs before I got for variants. Any tips or leads that you may have on helping me get some figs from Series 1 would be great. So far, my options are EBay and a shop way up north called CMD store.

So far, my options are EBay and a shop way up north called CMD store. First of all, you might like to know that you can get most of series 2 at tower.com for cheaper than all those above named stores, even including shipping! So start there. Big bad toy store has white ken and vega for just 8.99! I ordered my series one guys just in the nick of time--I literally got the last sagat and bison available at krypton collectibles. I got Ryu with help from a xevolution member, so it never hurts to ask around here. Otherwise, he's the one that's gonna cost you. You can get Chun Li and Sodom from Krypton collectibles for way cheap! Regarding variants--I'm not a variant collector by any means. Rather, I'm just getting the one version of every character that I feel looks the best, since, really, all the colors were featured in the game. The exception would be blanka, who I love so much that multiples are fine with me. Anyway--don't let yourself get screwed on these things--Tower can provide you with everyone but red Ken, and he'll be easy enough to find for the immediate future. Good luck!!

Again Randy, many thanks! I just happened to roll out to a Tower store in my area and picked up my first two SOTA SF figs, Blanka and Vega. HOLY MACKEREL!! These figs are totally impressive!! I've only just opened Blanka and this thing is just amazing. I must concur with all the people who mention that these figs are better in quality compared to the Marvel Legend figs. Outstanding! I can't wait to get the rest of them.

Fortune has smiled upon me tonight. As I returned to CMDstore, the online shop I spoke of, I found that the Ryu that was available as of yesterday was now gone. However, I was able to snag one from E-Bay tonight for even less of the cost than CMDstore had it listed for! Sweet! ;D

I'm thinking of starting to buy these figures and I have a few Q's 1. Which figures should I start with? 2. What is there average retail price? 3. And where can I find them? - Dark joe

You definitely will want to start with Series 1 figs. Go to the SOTA Street Fighter website to see the line up: www.sotatoys.com/prod_streetfighter.htmSeries 1 figs will be harder to find as they were released first; I don't know if they are still in production, but seeing how I can't find them in any retail stores, and the prices they seem to go for on web-based retailer sites indicates that they might be out of production. Ryu will be your hardest to find. I think your best bet might be to hunt him down on E-Bay. Entertainment Earth had a two pack deal for him and Chun-Li, but I think I was one of the last people to obtain the set. (I made my purchase of this set not more than 2 days ago.) CMD Store seems to be a reliable resource for all the other figs from series 1 and 2. store.yahoo.com/cmdstore/streetfighter.htmlI bought a Sagat from this site and it came in just a few short days. Considering they are in Canada and I live in VA, the timing was more than decent. Hope this is helpful. Oh, also check out what Randy13 mentioned in some earlier posts. You can find the series 2 figs in local Tower Records and Suncoast Video stores.

Thanks! - Dark joe
P.S. I'm related to Jean-claude Van damme or Guile in the Street Fighter movie (which was crap).

If anyone has access to a spare white Gi Ryu (non-variant) fig from the series 1 line, please drop me a pm. I made the purchase for the 25th Anniv. 2-pack set from Entertainment Earth and got burned with variants on both Ryu & Chu-Li. These guys are going right back.

Same thing happened to me, although I ended up keeping them out of laziness, and to have a spare 'crap ryu' that I could tote around or customize. Jagermeister on this board was able to grab a white one for me--there are definitely white ryus out there languishing in Hot Topics and Gamestops, so ask around on forums. Otherwise, you could get lucky on ebay. Alot of people say the best way to get him is to buy a whole series 1 set from whichever retailers or ebayers still offer them. It really sucks, but at least we got on board relatively early. I'll keep looking around, though...

Much appreciated Randy. As it turns out, I happened to find another Ryu (non-variant) on E-bay not too long ago. Right now I'm waiting on him to arrive.
I've also found a Chun-Li (also non-variant) not too far from where I live that I'm trying to negotiate with the retailer on (E-bay auction that I'm trying to pick up in person as opposed to having shipped to me). We shall see.
