I went a "bit" overboard at the Comic-Con. But I got a lot of figs I wanted and/or thought were neat. Saw a whole lot more I wanted, but I spent way too much as it was.
I gotta say, there was a lot more stuff there than I expected and was pleasantly surprised. Definitely can recommend these cons for finding some chase figures. But check eBay first - some prices were very over-inflated (ex. Deadpool was $45 and Juggernaut $70) and the prices varied greatly from dealer to dealer so shop around before buying. Could have saved myself about $10 if I was a little more patient.
I'd estimate there were about 1,500 attendees in the dealers' area (large convention floor). And this is one of the smaller Comic-Cons. The international one in San Diego has in excess of 10,000 attendees which is insane. Just to see what was being offered for the $15 entrance fee was worth it. $25 to park very close-by was not.
If one of these conventions is within local distance to you, I'd recommend checking it out. If nothing else to see truly geeky people in their natural habitat. These folks made me appear normal!
My primary reason for attending was to drop off a CD-ROM with photos to a webcomic artist friend of mine. As a result of me being a charming smart-@$$ and having a glib tongue (meaning I can think very fast on my feet and verbally reparte with the best of them) I may be mentioned/featured in up to 3 different web-comics in the near future for my antics. Nothing dirty, obscene, or criminal, just amusing and odd stuff I say and have done.
