[glow=aqua,2,300]The only other active line I am buying now is Transformers Alernators. ;D I don't start any new lines until Palisades releases Invader ZIM and the Fairly Oddparents this fall. I have a sneaky suspicion Xevoz will still be king then too.

I don't have that much money to spend on figures, but I definitely want to keep buying Xevoz. Other than that, Transformers cost me a lot of money. I'm not a completist, but I want one of each mold. I already dropped Universe seeing as they'Re all repaints. Energon and Alternators however are must haves for me. Other than that, the occasional McFarlane figure and Marvel Legend. There's also, Bionicle, but I find them a bit pricey since they'Re all the same. Thats pretty much it. You better keep buying Xevoz, otherwise I get stuck with extra Value Packs You need to get your hands on one of the big buckets of Bionicle parts for $20...over 700 pieces for $20 is an amazing deal, even I was tempted [glow=aqua,2,300] The only other active line I am buying now is Transformers Alernators. ;D I don't start any new lines until Palisades releases Invader ZIM and the Fairly Oddparents this fall. ~SS~[/glow] The only other new line I'll be doing is the Pink Panther line when it hits shelves. Should be in the next week or so the way it sounds. Granted this line has already cost me over $300 and they're not even out yet Picked up 3 prototype figs off Palisades auctions and then of course had to get a couple of the WWLA exclusive The Man figs. Darn Palisades and there awesome figs

[glow=aqua,2,300] Well the good thing for you is the PP line is supposed to be a one shot one wave and done thing. So you can suck it up and get it all done with in one short shot.
ZIM is supposed to avarage 2 waves a year so although the figures are expensive and exclusives can be hard to come by it shouldn't break me. The FOP should be more expensive because I could see it turning into another Muppets type line with 4 waves a year if promoted the right way. It would be hard choosing between this line and that one if I had to over the lack of fundage for both. Luckily I already have some swag points built up with Ken over there.

The PP line is scheduled for 1 wave right now but they've said if it goes well there is the possibility for another series. Nothing has been planned yet but there's still the possibility Part of me wants to see a second series and another part of me doesn't because I'd like to keep all of my money concentrated on Xevoz and especially the 2 new species ;D

[glow=aqua,2,300] I guess they could do some PP variants, those Tijuana Toad guys and the guy who ran around with The Inspector. Looks like they could do maybe a few more waves if the first sold well but how far could the PP really stretch out. I just don't remember a bunch of memorable character to tap into other than variants of the pink one himself.

Any toy company can come up with hundreds of variants. Even C3PO and Chewbacca had ten + figures each. Don't even mention Batman....

Very true...luckily Palisades has been really good about keeping the variants to a minmum though...repaint/chase galor but variants are pretty minimum That brings up an intereting question actually...anyone know what one character has been released in the most variations? I would assume it's Batman but there could be soemthing I'm missing someplace.

Heh the one fig I was most impressed with at Toy Fair I forgot about...Storm Wing definetly does mix up the Metabeast assortment a bit. My next thought would be animals that are exclusive to rainforests but that doesn't rule out much but aquatic figs....who knows...I sure as heck don't ::nods:: Well, are wolves exclusive to rainforests? Or Hawks/Eagles? I think the whole "Meta Beasts" species/faction is just a whole crap-load of animal people, which ones exactly have yet to be made up though. The only thing I have going for me as far as new stuff goes is that I don't buy anything unless it's on clearance. That saves me a bit of money rather then buying everything as soon as it hit the shelves like I used to. That philosophy really paid off when KB knocked all the MOTU down to $4.99, rounded out the collection quite nicely My major problem is the older 80's lines...me and eBay are very good friends unfortunately Ugh..don't get me started w/ KB & their MotU figures...they get mobbed every Friday at like 10am but "collectors" & all the new MotU figures are gobbled up faster then fast. All that ever remains are the " He-Maniants" that came in the case assortments. I tend to use eBay only for getting older toys, if it's a Xevoz I can find in the store, then I'll buy it at the store (I hate waiting for packages to arrive..). -Boglin

DoctorKent [glow=aqua,2,300] Sure they can, but that doesn't mean they are going to sell. If all they do in PP, the man and a few Inspector variants for future waves then the line is going to crash hard.

Squishee, you make a good point. From years of observation, basically since stores like Suncoast jumped into the game, you really can see that there is only limited demand for a lot of these niche lines. Very few lines have not gone on clearance in the Suncoast network of stores.
How many times have you said, "Man, it would be cool to have some Gremlins figures?" So NECA gets the license, put them out....and half the stock goes on clearance. Its gotten to the point where you can pretty much wait for any line that shows up at Suncoast to go on clearance, and be able to get the entire line for 25% off, maybe more. I picked up all the NECA tron stuff for less than $30.
So, does Pink Panther have that large of a fanbase to absorb one full assortment, or more?
And Boglin - He Man's time has passed, as we have discussed. Hopefully we get a "Thunder Barbarian" figure that we can use in Xevoz to remember him.

[glow=aqua,2,300]I'd love to see some kind of Barbarian figure. That would be sweet.
As for the PP line, I honestly think it's probably a one and done series. It might sell 2 or 3 waves (highly doubtful) if it totally shocks people and sells bigtime to the nostalgic 30 to 50 year old crowd. I just see this as a line that has a lot of potential to see major markdowns before they clear the pegs. I myself might have been interested had the price point not been so high. I love Palisades, but charging $15 a figure for their awesome toys is going to curb a lot of people's enthusiam I'm afraid. Lines with high retail prices like these are going to weed out the casual fans; so what you have left are the diehards who would buy no matter what they charged. The question Palisades has to ask themselves is how big is the diehard fan base for most of their properties.

All I can say is all the 75% off stickers I've thrown away could probably account for at least 1 tree. I don't have a Sun Coast near me but Media Play has definetly been my best friend when it comes to new lines. I've gotten pretty good at knowing which figures to pick up when the line first hits and which ones I'll be getting for 50 or 75% off a few months from now. Spencers has basically been the same way, Hellraiser figures 50% off combined with the buy 2 clearance items get 1 free was an awesome deal ;D I honestly don't see the PP figures going more then 1 series, that's about the only reason I'm getting into them. I didn't think the Muppets would catch on as big as they did, luckily I was able to pass that collection on to my parents which has definetly saved me a lot of money. Squishee, where did you hear that the PP figures were going to be $15? That's crazy if it's true...I may have to think twice about collecting them

[glow=Aqua,2,300]That's what Ken said the general price point was going to be for all these collector's lines that didn't get major retail support. He said in order to make the lines profitable selling at niche stores(Spencers, Hot Topic) and Internet dealers most of these lines will run $12 to $15 for each figure.

Yick...I just paid $15 for the exclusives, that I can handle, paying $15 for the regualr figs just doesn't sound appealing. This may be one of those lines that I grab the chases right off the bat and wait for the rest to go 50% off. I hate doing it because I'd rather support Palisades at full price but some times I just have to be realistic

[glow=aqua,2,300]I agree. It's really the smart thing to do since more than likely the line isn't going to see another release. You might as well get them as cheaply as possible.
With ZIM and the FOP I'm stuck. I want a series 2 and they want to make them because alot of vital characters would be left undone so I feel I must pay full price for them so they line can be profitable for Palisades to make a few more waves to get the essentials.
