I've always used 'em as knuckles, but the scanning ideas much cooler.

Its the device that explains how the Xevolvers change their parts. Did any non human get one? I think it was called a evo booster funny how when people saw how cool the figs were in the later sets they didn't need to explain it

I saw a picture somewhere, probably from the comic, that had a human holding one tothe sky, it looked more technical, and his laegs were turning to fire, so it is used for changing parts, but whether you have to scan other xevoz to use their parts is up for debate. It is used for xevolving, but the piece works well as knuckles too.

It is the knuckle. I thought everyone knew that!
But yeah, it is the "knuckle" weapon that isn't part of the game. No, it doesn't scan or evolve (xevolve?) it is simply an extra part that is used as a knuckle.

The scanning idea is interesting, I always used it as a knuckle though, even though the ninja clearly has a different sort of knuckle at the same time. Although I always designated the helix dice itself as the 'standardised tool all Xevoz must have to battle' thingy.

I had always assumed that it was an extra part to boost the part numbers in the combat game. Say the opponent has 30 parts total, but you only have 29 on your figure (and you don't have anymore in your parts bin). By adding this "useless" part (as far as combat and attacks go), your health points in the game match your opponent without your opponent having to rip a part off.
Now on for fictional stuff, if you really look at the thing carefully, you can almost imagine it as a battle helix holder. So this would be used to store the attacks and parts scanned from others. I like the name Xevolver, and it would make sense to use this device to scan parts from others and upgrade oneself with it.
I just think that the fictional purpose was an afterthought as it isn't really mentioned as having a purpose in any of the toys. Its just kinda there and that's it.
