[glow=red,2,300]The pictures show his gauntlets being used as leg guards but the production version I have can't come anywhere close to doing this. Is it possible to do this with some serious modification to the toy?[/glow]

Have you tried turning them sideways, upside down, every which way possible? Also, check the directions, or pictures on the box. They're most helpful.

After just picking a couple of these up yesterday evening (see post under Michigan Sightings), after trying both ways in vain, I can pretty safely say No to that.
I think that it may be a change from the proto, or at least the way that the proto looked when the booklet was being drawn up. The booklet also shows the armor pegging into the upper arms in a different place than what is actually possible.
I wouldn't think that any acceptable (i.e. non intensive alteration that ruins the aesthetic appearance of the clear plastic) modification would work very well. Of course, I could be wrong, but.....

There have been a couple similar cases like this when comparing to the assembly guide. The drawings of the pieces don't seem to reflect 100% the actual product all of the time. More then likely just due to running changes in the fig design for some reason.

I don't care too much about the armor or anything I want him for the clear plastic ;D

No go, doesn't solve a thing.
Upper legs have no peg hole, and are a female/female joint connection part (vs. the one female one male joint connection of the upper leg part), and the lower legs and lower arms are not interchangeable (just like on all Xevoz/Stikfas figures).
It's just a rolling design change, it happens.

I just got Shocky yesterday and the only way I can get his armor connected on his arms is to have the "fat" end pointing away from his wrists (I have the metal balls on the forearm peices on the wrist end.)
I can not get them to attach to his legs at all, turned either way.
