Decided to give this off topic discussion a try...
Some of you guys sounded at one point or another like you played video games. Will you be buying this PSP handheld? What do you think of it? Price has been announced too..US $249.
IMO, I just want Sony to release it already so we can all see that this thing won't last. As sleek and cool looking as it is, It cannot compete with the good old GBA SP. So yeah, the sooner it's out, the sooner it's over. I'm an avid video game collector. But the PSP is turning me off big time. I'm not buying it.

Bah, I just checked and your right Grayfox, 250 bucks. What a rip, last I heard it was going to be $200. They mighta jacked it up seeing the demand from Japan (they buy anything electronic, they are like Neo Sapiens, except you know, with mouths and eyes, and slanted ones at that). I saw em going for 800 on eBay from overseas after Japan got em in their hands.
Enough rambling about that though, to answer your question Grayfox, no I probably won't buy it myself. Not until it goes down at least. I don't play my GBA SP near enough, if ever anymore to justify the 100 it cost, let alone 250 for a system I would use the same amount. Some functions it has sound cool, but I already have an MP3 player and such.
I am not one of those guys who thinks games are unimaginative or the devil either. I think they are great forms of a rising entertainment. I just can't justify paying that much for a hand held I will never use (this coming from a guy who payed 38 dollars for some plastic). At 200 I was thinking about it, but 250.. no way. I will just save up for the new systems coming out next year or something. [/b]

Meh, I think $100 is overpriced for a portable game system. I'll just stick to my old titles on GB color. When GB DS or SP get to about $50 I'll move on to them.

I don't wanna take this off topic (ah what the heck this is what this place is for anyway), but IMO, this next-next gen console talk is happening WAY too soon. Xbox2, PS3, Nintendo Revolution? Come on, the xbox, PS2 and Gamecube could go for a few more years I'm sure...

Heh they could and should but the gaming companies like to get people to buy new systems every few years because they want to sell you more expensive systems and updated games. I look for the next 10 years for the turnover to become even quicker until the fans get sick of it. I just buy older obsolete systems that had fun challenging games I haven't gotten around to playing yet and wait for the prices to plummet. I'm not to worried about keeping up with the Jones, still have a lot of fun, and save a lot of money too.

Yeah I understand SS. Being a freakin collector, I can't help but buy the systems as they come out with at leats one game. but once that is done, I just buy the games I like and keep them for when I'll actually have time to play them. Would you believe I still have about 15-20 unopened Dreamcast games?

Heh, I've never even though about people being video game collectors. I guess it's just too expensive and honestly (for me) not rewarding enough to invest time into. I like playing some games now and then but putting them on shelf to look at just doesn't make for a great presentation to me. Of course, this is just my opinion and not meant to ruffle any feathers of those who may be video game collectors.
