A while ago, I had mentioned of an acquaintance I made online via myspace. Anyhow, we are eventually planning to meet up to do an appearance at a convention sometime in the future in our Joe costumes. In preparation for this, I'm touching up some areas of the costume to make it an all-around Snake Eyes costume and I could use some suggestions.
Here's where you get to help out - I need suggestions on finishing up the few remaining areas I need to complete this outfit. One area is his weaponry. I'm in the process of purchasing some cheap airsoft guns that I'll either fill in with some hardening material or alter so the mechanics are disabled as to not offend authorities or break any rules of conduct for appearances. But I'm not sure what type of guns he had specifically. I know he had an Uzi at one time. Sometimes, I've seen him with an MP5, but I can't tell what type of pistols he used - you never saw them in his hands, but he had them on his cotsume. I'm debating between some form of a desert eagle or a baretta. Here's what I mean. Any ideas?
I'm also looking to get some fake grenades. I see that Airsoft makes some imitation grenades as well, so I may go with one of their products, but ideally, I'd prefer some cheap imitation plastic shell of a grenade so I'm not weighing myself down.
I also need to look into a sword - after all, he's a ninja. I know there's the Snake Eyes Sword replica that was put out not too long ago, but I'm not too crazy about spending nearly 100 dollars on something I'll only use for show. Cheap, plastic and fake is my aim, but should look good. Doesn't seem too hard to do I think. If anyone can help with any suggestions for this as well, I'd appreciate it. So far, all I'm able to find a wooden bokens, but if I were able to find something plastic, again - ideal.
The only other areas I'm working on are the visor, which I've made, but need find a way to conceal my face color behind the visor, since it can be seen through the gaps if flash is used. I was thinking of perhaps using a real dark stocking as one idea. Another would be applying camo on my face only around the area where my face would be exposed behind the visor, but that sounds like too much work. My third idea was to place a dark-transparent sheet of plastic behind the entire visor - dark enough that no one could see in, but easy enough that I could see through looking out. I'll figure something out.
I'm also working to get a few more straps for the upper part of the costume to hold pouches, the imitation grenades and a knife handle.
Should I go really vintage by adding logos like a GI Joe patch and one for the Arashikage clan?

). Both weapons have action -- meaning you can xock back the hammer and everything moves like it should -- but can't be fired, ever.
