For those interested, the teaser trailer for next year's TMNT movie is now available to view online. www.apple.com/trailers/wb/teenagemutantninjaturtles/As longtime and hardcore TMNT fan, I can't wait to see this. Even though I have a bit of a soft spot for the first movie, this may very well be the first time the Turtles have truly been done justice on the silver screen. (I hope.)

That REALLY looks great IMO. The first live action movie is also my favorite and this one does look like it can be as cool. The CG sure looks awesome. I just hope it won't be aimed at kids too much.

I just hope it won't be aimed at kids too much. I agree with you 100%. That would be my biggest fear for this movie. Here's a bit regarding that issue from the director, Kevin Munroe: Munroe says that this is an "all ages" film in the best sense, while it is a film that children can enjoy, it can also be enjoyed by anyone of any age. "Animation is not a genre; animation is a medium. This is a comic book genre film in the animation medium." www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=7909I'm hoping that "all ages" means that it'll be something along the lines of the Spider-Man movies. In the preview shown at the SDCC, a disguised Mikey supposedly gets kicked in the nuts by a kid at one point, so maybe that's some small indication that the movie won't be too "kid oriented."

That looks amazing. Although, hearing that it will be geared to all ages gives me the impression it will be along the lines of ... hmmm, what would be a good example,.. how about Jackie Chan in Around the world in 80 days?
I'll probably just wait till the DVD comes out. Lord knows there's gonna be a lot of loud kids lauging their butts off seeing Mike fall into trash cans, down sewer drains, on banana peels, etc...

In the trailer, just seeing Mikey falling in the dumpster makes me fear about how kid oriented it could be. Sure, it's exactly Mikey's type to do such a thing as falling like in the trailer, but I can't help but think it might be an indication.

I had the same problem, godzillalover. Try updating your QuickTime player, and that should hopefully fix the problem for you. (It worked for me, anyway.) This movie was supposedly going to follow the tone of the original Mirage comics more closely than the old live-action movies did. Mikey falling into the garbage dumpster, however... Still, I'll be there to check it out on it's opening day, and hope against hope that it won't be too silly/childish. (Although he was always the most lighthearted of the brothers, Mikey was never that silly or clumsy in the original Mirage series, so why must all other continuities constantly make him such an over-the-top goofball?!?.) Still, if they can at least match (and hopefully surpass) the first couple of seasons of the Fox series, it shouldn't be too bad. Meanwhile, I'm hoping we'll see some good action figures from the movie. However, since Playmates will again be producing them, I'm not holding my breath. I wish to God that a different company had gotten the toy license....

Actually, the whole Mikey falling down off the side is really unMikey-ish when it comes to his abilities, since he has the most athletic ability of all four turtles. Sorry, I'm a big TMNT Fan. Like, crazy big. I loved the teaser, it makes me think of the new show (which is fantastic). As for toys... these have been shown at SDCC. IMAGES WERE NOT TAKEN BY ME BUT BY TOKKA FROM THE TECHNODROME.COM. It's good to feel like a kid again.

Sorry, I'm a big TMNT Fan. Like, crazy big. No worries, I am too. As for the figures, Donnie looks pretty good. I'm not too keen on the other ones though, to be honest. I hope we'll see some better pictures of them soon, but they look typically "Playmates" in these shots. (IMO, not a good thing... as you guys already know.) I don't much care for the armored Raph, or Casey's sculpt. I won't even get into Mikey's "Cowabunga Carl" van, but I do have an idea as to what purpose it serves in the movie. (Still, it's by no means something that I'd want to own.) It looks like Don has elbow joints, at least, and I like his sculpt a lot. So, maybe the Turtles themselves will turn out nicely, and prove to be worth picking up. They look like the closest thing to Mirage-style Turtles (my preferred TMNT continuity) that we'll probably ever get.

TMNT toy line is the only line I buy religiously. The toys aren't great by any stretch but I want to keep TMNT around as long as possible. I know I'll buy the figures when they come out but as for the movie, I'm pumped.

I used to buy them religiously, but I felt that the line steadily declined from Wave 1 forward. I've all but dropped the line completely now, and have no intentions of buying any of the Fast Forward figures at all. The way I see it, it's Playmates' job to keep me returning as a customer, and not mine to make certain that their line succeeds or ensure that it continues. Otherwise, Playmates--or any other toy company, for that matter--can continue to pump less-than-inspired products into the market while remaining confident that it really doesn't matter what they crank out, because the fans will ultimately continue to buy their product regardlessly. Personally, I love the Turtles too much and have been a fan for far too long to continue to support anything that represents them poorly.
I sure hope it doesn't sound as if I'm trying to be argumentative or combative. It's not my intention to knock your perspective, I'm just offering mine. ;D

One thing I liked in the trailer that I hope they keep is the look the Turtles have. They look like they mean buisness. With the very cool all white eyes. Love those.
Also, is the movie supposed to follow the current cartoon continuity?

The movie takes place after Secret of the Ooze.

One thing I liked in the trailer that I hope they keep is the look the Turtles have. They look like they mean buisness. With the very cool all white eyes. Love those. No doubt about it, Grayfox. Not to beat a dead horse with the whole "Mirage" thing, but they're very Mirage-like in terms of appearance, right down to the white, pupil-less eyes. That, IMHO, is great. If it were up to me, the Turtles would never be shown with pupils while they're wearing their masks. (Which is almost always.) It gives them a bit of an edge, and makes them look a bit meaner... and about ten times cooler. (Needless to say, I was pretty happy that the current toon went with the solid white eyes.... ) We're basically talking about eight little dots here, but it's my feeling that their presence almost instantly renders the Turtles' look too... well, cartoony. Also, is the movie supposed to follow the current cartoon continuity? Like jestergoblin said, it takes place after TMNT II: The Secret of the Ooze. (An abysmal, disaster of a movie that I didn't care for when I first saw it in the theater... and it hasn't improved any with age. Funny how even when I was actually a kid, I hated when I felt that something had been toned down, or kiddie-fied. After the first TMNT movie, Secret of the Ooze was a major disappointment for me.) According to Munroe, it'll basically be a Superman Returns-type situation. Here's an excerpt of what he had to say at the SDCC from Ain't It Cool News:A little like SUPERMAN RETURNS this film kind of fits in after the 2nd movie, but there will be nods to the cartoon (The current one, I hope. -QB) and previous films (including 3), but will be a "rebirth" of a movie.www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=23927He also commented that "the universe is a bit more realistic, set in a world most like the first feature film."
