Just saw it, it was gorgeous... attention to detail was great, characterization was good, and I think Splinter was the Uncle from Avatar. Great for fans of the original comics and the cartoon series. Every 80's property deserves treatment like this. I have a crush on April O'Neil. screams sequel.

. . . I think Splinter was the Uncle from Avatar . . . . Right you are, eMummy. The voice actor who gave life to Uncle Iroh/Master Splinter was the one-and-only Mako, who passed away before production on the film had been completed.

That really upset me, I really REALLY liked that actor, thought he was great. :sigh:

So he DID pass away. Hmmm, I remember watching an Avatar episode that ended with a phrase similar to "In memory of Mako..." trailing with a birth year and death year, but the word "memory" wasn't used. It was something more like "respect", which I thought unusual, so I understood it as being perhaps something else other than his passing.
It's too bad, but nothing is forever. He was a great guy.
