Sorry to flood the board with another DS thread as there many on an individual game or agenda basis, but I figured I would get a better sense of what people were playing and more other topics related to this system by making one thread covering the whole system. I just picked up a DS maybe a week ago and I've been playing the New Super Mario Bros, which I'm almost completed with - I've beat the bosses, now I'm just trying to unlock pathways and special features. I find the game to be real nice, and the player vs. player games are really cool too. It's like Super Mario and Mario Party in 1 cartridge. In any case, what I really want to know now are what games some of you DS owners are playing. I'm thinking about picking up that Final Fantasy III game that just came out, as well as the Mario Kart game. I know some of you play Animal Crossing, but that game just never appealed to me. So, what do you guys play, both off and online? Maybe I'll pick up a title and join you.

club.ign.com/b/list/custom?&owner=yakkotank&mode=edit&grp1=653161&objt=1I have way too many games, but they're all good. I've got Final Fantasy III on the way- I'm hearing that the graphics are great and the gameplay is old-school. If you don't mind a challenge, it's a good bet. It also has some limited Wi-Fi connectivity, as well. Others: New Super Mario is excellent, no doubt, but Super Princess Peach is surprisingly good and different. A bit slower paced than NSMB, though. I'd recommend anything from my list, but obviously your tastes are different. Any genres you enjoy?

I'm usually inclined to keep myself busy with action titles and RPGs. I was big into RPGs years ago, but these days, I just don't have the time to commit to playing them despite me still wanting to play them. They're like a good book.
You know how it goes when you get started with an RPG then have to take a break for whatever reason - when you try to get back into the game, you forget what you did and what you need to do and usually end up starting all over again. That's why I wish RPGs now would give you a recap of your work in an animated story format. How cool would that be? You would have to get up to certain milestones in the game, but then when you save and then come back to the game, you can choose the option to recap, and it replays an animated story based around the major events of the game up till the point where you last saved and tells you what you need to do. A feature like this would be killer I think.
In any case, Action, Adventure and RPGs are my flavors, but sometimes, all a game needs to be is well done for me to enjoy it, despite the genre or how long or short it may be in hours.

I'm up to 17 DS games now. These are the ones I enjoyed the most:
Kirby Canvas Curse Advance Wars Dual Strike ( I *love* that series) Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Mario Kart DS New Super Mario Bros
I recommend checking out reviews before buying. Or maybe get demos from friends or download stations (if they're still active).

A feature like this would be killer I think. I hate to break it to you, but this feature already exists! It's in Pokemon Leafgreen and FireRed, and it recaps the last 4 or 5 things you did... Quite handy, that. I haven't played Kirby Canvas Curse, but the reviews seem to highly recommend it for a short and sweet playing experience. I also loved Advance Wars, if you're into turn-based strategy. Children of Mana's getting decent reviews, but it's a bit less of an adventure game and more of a dungeon hack. If you're into that sort of thing...

Haha, Bleighdzes, I wish that feature exisited in MGS2 and Prince of Persia 2.... having been busy recently it totally sucks to forget what you were doing when you come back to a game weeks to months later. Also losing the awesome controller skills you had developed initially or just plain forgetting how to play the game and getting housed by weak enemies... that blows too. I was able to eventually beat mgs2... but the freaking cutscenes.... so long... so unskippable. Which is why I like the feature of unlocking movies in the game... so you can go back and watch stuff when you actually dont want to play a game.

I just picked up FF3 DS a few days ago. I have to say that I'm enjoying it a lot and it makes me enjoy the DS even more. Being able to play RPG games and not being tied to the house is a thing of splendor!

Anyone play Children of Mana? I loved Sword of Mana for the GBA and heard you can actually play co-op this time around. I remember playing the original Secret of Mana for the SNES - Man that was a great game at the time. I think I may pick that up eventually. Has anyone tried out this game called " Magical Starsign"? I came across the title will looking at some Wii news on the Nintendo site.

I myself am Looking forward to Diddy Kong Racing DS. It's a port enhanced title from the 64 with more drivers, weapons, tracks, and a design a track option. If you like Mario Kart DS you'll no doubt love this one too. Rare did an awesome job with the original title and it was superior to the 64 version of MK. The is Rare's first DS game so I expect it to be top notch. I just wished it would be out for Christmas but I'll have to wait till Febuary.

Still working on Animal Crossing myself (had about 3 weeks off when I had to send my DS Lite, whose hinge broke, back to Nintendo for repairs - didn't know then about the whole they-send-you-a-new-unit-after-taking-your-credit-card-info-and-then-you-send-your-broken-system-back)... I've begun work on a few newer games, such as Clubhouse Games and Elite Beat Agents, and am enjoying those as well. Not to mention finishing Phoenix Wright...
One weird thing I noticed about my replacement DS Lite... the stylus tracking is off a bit on the touchscreen's sides. Toward the left side of the screen, it registers a few pixels to the left, and toward the right, a few pixels to the right. Not major enough to screw me up in EBA (as the beats don't usually appear that far to the screen's sides), but annoying when trying to design or type in AC. I don't want to have to pay another replacement fee, and it's probably too late to do anything about it now... (got the unit back in mid November)

I just got those two games from amazon - Magical Starsign and Children of Mana, plus I picked up MarioKart DS on Sunday. I picked up a new wireless G router to replace my old defunct B class router today (defunct as in - the wireless don't work no mo'). If anyone wants a new racing opponent, please let me know as I'm eager to test this stuff out. ;D ;D
