I've been a fan since the games first made their debut here in america in the late 90s. With the release of the latest gen (4th)just a little more than a week away and battling online is anyone else here going to be getting into the series?

Looking for Lugia?
I need to go back and finish up mine. I already got Lugia once but I'm wanting to get one with a preferred nature this time.

Playing XD twice to get a Lugia with a different nature?
Dang, that's hardcore. I've enjoyed the Pokemon games, but I haven't done too much with the technical stuff like breeding and IVs and natures and so on...
I'm actually at the very end of XD; I've got to beat the last boss and his bodyguard. The difficulty level rises very quickly at the end, doesn't it.

Heh, I guess so. I'm looking for new challenges since I've beaten the games and after visiting a couple of online forums have found out that raising your pokemon randomly for in game battling doesn't make them good for online battling. I used to not care about natures, putting much thought into EVs, I didn't even know about breeding for good IVs at all, and mainly put nothing but offensives moves on my pokes in order to make them diverse to gain type matchups for beating gym leaders and the elite 4. Appearently that will get your team killed quickly in competitive battling.
As for the last the last few bosses in XD. I used mostly shadow pokes I just got from his henchmen and a couple of my strong purified to take him down. Thunderwave is awesome first attack to put paralysis on his Lugia, legendary birds, and other shadows to make them easy to catch. I got almost all of them with regular cheapo pokeballs by thunderwaving them and then slowly whittling them down and tossing a pokeball at them. Timer balls are very useful here too because the battle will drag on for a long time if you bring good pokes with you. I carried a bunch of healing vending machine drinks too to make sure he never got the advantage enough to KO my pokes. Oh leave a spot in your party open to use Lugia against his other pokes because he will attack you with him right off the bat. Shadow Lugia makes a great wall of rugged defense to all his other shadow pokemon.

Preordered. Admittedlty, I haven't really played a portable Pokémon title since Sapphire, and still need to complete Pokémon Colliseum (I stepped away from it trying to beat the series of trainers without knocking out their Shadow Pokémon and haven't tried again since). Still, I'll be sure to make my Friend Code available...

I'm still debating buying the next pokemon game(s). Aside for Pokemon stadium on N64, I only played a few hours of Pokemon Yellow many years ago. It's really not a bad concept, but I'm not sure I'd like it enough to actually buy the upcoming ones. Battling online is a big plus though. I guess I'll sleep on it a bit more.

Thanks for the advice! I just finished XD last night. All told, the last two battles were somewhat easier than expected, mostly because, as you said, I was able to stack my lineup with very powerful Shadow Pokemon.
Now on to Pokemon Ranger to get that Manaphy egg!

Well, I'm just starting out, and only have a few monsters approaching Level 15, but my Friend Code is 0645-2238-0248 (name Robert if it matters). Let me know yours and I'll add them... I'm not sure if I'll have to bug you for a specific time and date to be online, or if the game just automatically picks up when we *happen* to be online at the same time.

I broke down and bought the Pearl version last Sunday. It's not a bad game at all and I can see why someone would "want to catch them all". It's a bit addictive hehe.
Anyway, those of you who have it, maybe we could all share friend codes, since from what I understand you can't have random battles online.

I've been busy playing since last Sunday (release date). I just beat the 6th gym leader. I'm going to set up WIFI MAX in a few days so I'll be online with my friend code. I'm looking for some trade partners with Pearl who can trade me an extra Misdreavus and/or a Glameow. I have just about anything for trade... Murkrow, Hippopotas, Gible, Cranidos, Drifloon, Silcoon, Combee (female).... just to name a few. I like to add special/rare held items with the pokes I trade.
I also want to meet everyone in the underground I can regardless of which version you have. I really want to get to that 32 meetings of people there in order to be able to catch a Spiritomb.

Ah, the underground only works for Local Wireless, not over the Internet.
