I have discovered that the difference between sending something by any supposedly slower and cheaper rate and just shipping something priority mail represents no real savings at all. Actually, it's a wonder they offer options at all. The savings may be as little as $0.25-0.35 as far as I can tell.
It's totally worth it to go priority as a minimum. You assure yourself a speedy transaction and your intended recipient is a happier, less anxious person for it.
In case you wonder I have been sending individual kits well packed in a cardboard box, styrofoam peanuts, and possibly wrapped up in bubble wrap. It's basically $5.75-6.50 or so every time no matter what method I choose.
