I've been meaning to get to this ever since I joined the forum back in 2005, and finally had time to go over old stuff from my sketchbook at the height of my obsession which would have been that summer/fall, when I spent ridiculous amount$ to complete my collection... like obsessed enough to recreate packaging art. Yeah, work has been slow. If you can recognize it, I was influenced by the technical design docs for CryptCurse and Predacrawler that I've seen online. I have a few other designs, but felt like finishing up these first, since the species is the most lacking. I base my design ideas on one of two things: 1) Creatures/Neo Sapiens representations that I feel are lacking, filling in the gaps in the line. 2) pieces that I think would be great for kitbashing It really makes me sad sometimes that I had devoted so much thought time about the future of the line and now it's dead I only have my imagination.

Wow, those are cool. I think they lack in accessory though. Maybe give buzz injector a flower staff, or something like that. Still, very cool

Yeah, I couldn't come up with any particular gag pieces or weapons. I don't really care for the dragonfly axe that bonecutter comes with. Lots of my weapons are just in plastic containers in my closet.

Dude, those are absolutely awesome! I'd have loved to have been able to add them to my sectoid armies and maybe the sectoids would have risen a few levels in my rankings of the races had Hasbro made those.
The thing I really like about those is they look like they really could have been real kits minus the armor, weapons and gags. If you have made anymore or get inspired to do more please post them. That the best thing I've seen posted here in at least a year or so.
Ahhhh what could have been....

Thanks Squishee... coming from you, that is such a huge compliment. I will be sure to post more, granted these were probably my best designs...

Great work! Really like the design of the alternate head for Buzz Injector. It would have worked great on Mecha kitbashes as well. Keep on posting them.

Hell yeah that is cool! Indeed one of the coolest idea I've seen here in a long time. And it's damn well executed too! I also really love the designs of the two kits you came up with. Please do show us if you have more of them. These are the best blueprints I've seen for anyone who wanted to create/customize more sectoids

Nicely rendered graphics!!! ;D ;D
Did you do this in Illustrator or Painter as the image looks vector-based?
Is your logo based off of Xiaolin Showdown? Kinda looks like Omi.

That's my face But yeah now that you mention it, man it is like Xiaolin Showdown! Yes to answer you and fratmonkey, it's Illustrator to do the line art. Altho you could probably get similar results from Photoshop, and definitely Lineform which is like half the price of illustrator.

Custom Con! (the RTM one) I got lots of blister bubbles saved for a someday.
Cool weapon for bugs is the bee launcher from the First Half-Life. It was an alien gauntlet that had an endless supply of live bees with some homing capabilities.
Your stuff/colors reminds me of Aura Battler Dunbine

You know, Machineman, when I was in middle school, my parents would take me to New York, and there was a bookstore where I would get Hobby Japan, this Japanese modeling hobbyist magazine, that and Bubblegum Crisis had very strong influences on me. I most definitely probably saw Auto Battler Dunbine models in that magazine amongst the Gundam and Patlabor stuff that was popular at the time. I also like stuff from the Guyver and this other series with Centaur robots... I forget the name but Dunbine reminds me of that stuff. Ok, your encouragement has given wind to my sails. Here are two more. Meta-Beasts this time around. Again, lacking lots of armor/accessories... I have two more from the sketchbook in the works, that I feel are pretty good, maybe they are even better! Then I'll have to rethink the others sketches. Because they are very generic. I was having a bit of trouble coming up with the dual name scheme that Xevoz follows. In lots of cases it was who the Xevoz was and then their job, or an aspect of the character and their job, or where they hung out and then who they were. Needless to say my brain was racked for thinking up of something. I think these names work out ok.
