Dude, that's awesome! congrats on the [free] figure! Having a good time at the 'con, hanging with the sideshow guys...and you get something for doing it! I imagine they were thinking the same as me; a kick ass costume deserves a kick ass figure Also I have a quick question to which I'm sure you've already answered, but I'll ask anyway. What material did you use to make the visor? and how sturdy is it?

Truth be told, bro. It's just a cut out pattern from a wastebasket I picked up at Target. I made a construction paper base to draft a template for the actual pattern and cut. The stuff on the sides is just an elaborate combination of washers, nuts, bolts, magnets and those pipe covers, like what you might see covering up holes from a pipe enters into a wall, commonly seen maybe underneath your toilets and kitchen sinks. Applied some krylon paint and Voila!
I'm thinking I'll make another to have something more correct. It looks good, but I see errors in it, unevenness and such. If I do actually make another, I'll need to take snap shots to show how I went about making it. It's perhaps the most asked question I get regarding the suit.
Regarding how sturdy it is, I'll say this. The heaviest parts of this visor are obviously the ends since those parts are metal. The magnets I use to hold it in place are pretty damn strong, so it holds very well until I decide I want to take it off, and it's more of a prying it off process then a simple yank. The material of the plastic from the wastebasket is strong enough to not be flimsy, but also soft enough where you could bend it a bit, but it would always retain it's original shape.

The story only continues to get better and better. I sent these pictures to Sideshow Collectibles. Not only are they asking me if they can post these on their website, which I've said yes to, but they are providing me access to San Diego Comic Con this year. I just need to cover my own expenses for lodging and travel, which I've done.
I swear, I've gone to this thing twice and the lesson I'm now learning is - never buy tickets in advance when you'll find a way to get in without buying your own, lol.
So, if any of you guys plan to attend SDCC this year, come over the the Sideshow booth and say hello. I'll be there on Friday through Sunday. I'll also bring a few Xevoz with me just to give Hasbro a hard time. LOL
